HVDC is an accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and high voltage electrical contractor, delivering complete electrical infrastructure solutions from LV to 132kV. We specialise in grid connections, Balance of Plant (BOP) packages, private networks and renewable energy infrastructure across the UK.
An ICP , or independent connection provider, is an accredited contractor permitted to design and build new electricity connections to the distribution network as an alternative to the DNO, often with faster programmes and closer client service.
We deliver projects from Low Voltage (LV) through to 132kV, including private networks, substations, renewable energy infrastructure and grid connections. Our services include:
Design & Pre-Construction
Construction
Specialist Solutions
Commissioning & Support
Yes. HVDC delivers Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) grid connections and Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical packages as part of its core service offering. The company works with renewable energy developers, utilities and large power users to deliver projects from concept through to energisation on systems up to 132kV.
Our commercial approach is built on transparency and trust. We provide accurate, fully considered pricing, clearly explain our assumptions, and manage changes openly and fairly. When variations arise, as they sometimes do on complex infrastructure projects, we work collaboratively with our clients to find the right solution, delivering commercial certainty rather than unexpected costs.
UK-wide, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
An accredited ICP, such as HVDC, delivers the contestable works while coordinating closely with the DNO for the final network connection. At HVDC, we manage the entire ICP process, from the initial application and design through DNO liaison, construction, testing and final energisation, providing one accountable team throughout. The result is a smoother connection process, better communication and a project that stays focused on quality, safety and programme.
Programme certainty isn't achieved by working faster, it's achieved by planning better, making informed decisions early, and proactively managing every stage of the project. At HVDC, our senior team remains involved from concept through to energisation, giving clients continuity, clear communication and complete accountability throughout the project lifecycle. That's how we deliver programme certainty, through experience, planning and accountability, not by compromising on quality or safety.
Balance of Plant (BOP) refers to all of the electrical and civil infrastructure required to connect a renewable energy asset to the electricity network, excluding the main generating equipment itself. In simple terms, if a solar farm, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) or wind farm is the "engine" of the project, the Balance of Plant is everything that enables it to operate safely, reliably and export power to the grid. HVDC delivers turnkey Balance of Plant electrical packages for renewable energy developments across the UK, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV, wind and private network projects.
